Please note: as part of this qualification, you will need to build an onsite portfolio of electrical work in line with the required specifications after finishing the 6 weeks in the classroom.

This course is highly regarded and accepted for registration with NAPIT & NICEIC as a Qualified Supervisor for Domestic Installation, provided you also undertake the 2391-52 Inspection and Testing & 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (both of which are included in this 6 week course with us)

This qualification allows learners to continue to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment within the electrotechnical sector. The objective of this qualification is for learners to demonstrate they are competent in accordance with legislation, regulations and industry standards;

The target groups for the qualification are those learners who are:

  • Updating occupational competence, continuous professional development and or demonstrating their skills and knowledge as a Qualified Supervisor for Competent Person Schemes in the UK as outlined in the EAS Scheme document.
  • Preparing for further learning or training and/or developing knowledge and/or skills in a subject area who are existing workers in the occupation seeking to extend their range of work.

As part of this course, you will also undertake The Domestic Electrical Installer (DEI2022) course, which covers electrical work as outlined in the Building Regulations and complies with BS7671:2018 Amendment 2 (2022). The course is suitable for those who carry out electrical work in association with their main work activity. This course is not designed for new entrants or to take a non-qualified person and make them into an electrician.

The Domestic Electrical Installer course covers the underpinning knowledge and practical aspects of planning, installing, fault finding and commissioning of domestic electrical installations. The areas covered are as follows:

  • Electrical Safety legislation, Regulations Standards and Terminology
  • Applicable Building Regulations for Domestic Electrical Installations
  • Domestic Electrical Circuit Design Specifications
  • Domestic Electrical Installation Pre-Work Survey/Risk Assessments
  • Installing Domestic Electrical Circuits
  • Domestic Electrical Earthing and Bonding Requirements
  • Identification of Mains Position Components and Protective Devices
  • Safe Isolation Procedures
  • Inspecting, Testing and Commissioning Single Phase Domestic Electrical Circuits
  • Special Locations and Installations
  • Identification of Unsafe Domestic Electrical Situations
  • Recording of Electrical Test Results, Completion of Certification and Notification Requirements
  • Basic Understanding of 3 Phase Supplies.

You will also undertake the City and Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and the City and Guilds Initial and Periodic Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391-52)

Pre-requisites

There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification but it is recommended that learners should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical industry. Learners should have access to a qualified mentor in order to complete this qualification. Mentors suitability and competence should be verified by the centre.
